Millennium Hippies

Written by Sofroina Timmons
When we think of the 60s Hippies our vision travels back in time of psychedelic mood lamps, paisley and wild animal prints and the peace sign. Let’s not forget about Woodstock…I must say that’s a tough act to follow for my inner hippie. I still enjoy the idea of free-spirited living but looking and smelling good while doing it is priority on my list.

LUSH’s Karma Komba Solid Shampoo Bar ($10.95, vegan), a pine colored bar (that is equal the amount of three 8.4oz. bottles of shampoo, 50-80 shampoos), degreases and cleanses my hair giving it a shiny smooth summer look of love after just one use. I also like the New Guv’ner ($9.95, 1.4oz. vegan) a double sweat absorbing formula of charcoal powder combined with lycopodium powder for the under arms (I haven’t noticed any sweat stains). I can fashion my hippie style and smell delightfully sinful on Earth Day.

And to unveil a super clean minty breath after a weekend of supporting my favorite band, I use the Dirty Toothy Tabs ($3.95, vegan) for my perfectly white teeth. I just crush one up wet on my toothbrush and brush for three meditating minutes while the foaming agents whiten my teeth and the spearmint freshens my breath. For those who are die-heart fans (groupies), these are great to have when trekking from concert to concert, festivals…I’m just saying.
