At the mere age of 23, designer Jason Wu, who has already established himself in the toy world through his lavish couture dolls, showed his first ready to wear collection. With inspiration streaming from Charles James, Wu's modern take on femininity was apparent.
The collection shown in tulles, silks and cashmeres was reminiscent of a time when dressing good and feeling well, went hand and hand. His garments were very structured and incorporated boning. A key piece from the collection was a "sleevless cashmere sheath dress with lace trim" shown under a fox bolero. Wu incorporated bustiers in many of his looks, with touches of embellishment with gold beads. His collection of brown, black, gunmetal, and taupe eveningwear pieces are desirable in more ways than one.
