Designer Toni Maticevski seemed to have a mix of fall fashion ideas and he did this by mixing fabrics, color choices and manipulating traditional fashion silhouettes from conventional couture. He is one of the most talked about names in Australian fashion and this season will be no different. He is original, and that will bring his odd tucked, twisted and looped designs well into the future.
Maticevski challenges the norm and that is something most designers talk about, but few every actually do.
After completing his Degree in Fashion Design with Honors at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Maticevski worked in the local fashion industry, experiencing the fashion process from design to production. He worked with Donna Karan in 1999, but soon made a pilgrimage to Paris where he took up a position at Cerutti for two seasons.
Every Maticevski season is different and that is the excitement people have come to anticipate. Show favorites included the gathered wool pant with cashmere tank, the silk chiffon dress with lace trim, the black crepe abstract skirt with brocade wool jacket and the black wool frock coat.
The baroque mini puffy cocktail dress, and other yellow and pink puffer dresses showed off Maticevski’s showmanship.
