The modernists: Le Corbusier, Frank Gehry, and Mondrian. The collection is clean, sparing and dimensional. Art and architecture is the foundation for the Cynthia Steffe Spring 2006 Collection.
Graphic black and white are refreshed by crisp bold hues of mersimmon, lemon and jade. Classic shapes made modern with a reflexed fit and softly sculpted volume. Simplification in composition and color are heightened by linear patterns evocative of the grid like patterns of a cityscape. Feminine three-dimensional details abound in pared down luxury.
A play in contrasts takes place between soft jacquard batiste and architectural canvas, natural linens and industrial fastenings, lingerie detailing in a menswear silhouette. The look is clean, modern, bold and always feminine.
Natural fibers dominate; cotton canvas and crisp linens mingle with lacquered coating. Bold, multicolored graphic shapes are printed on canvas coats and cotton batiste tiered skirts. Corrugated textures – multi-layers, seersucker in black and red, tiered seaming, and colorful knitwear - set the tone for the season. Dots are found on sheer netting and also assembled on soft, clipped jacquards in whites and brights. Eveningwear is contoured and sculpted in black duchess satin.
