Songs for Nature
The chance encounter with a snowy NYC winter day is the backdrop for Way Zen’s
JSong and...Way fall 2012 collection. Zen, who has this writer's vote for pushing
the envelope when it comes to smart embroidery, keeps her clientele looking posh
in a natural way. A white cashmere coat with removable sleeves exhibits Zen’s
quest for functionality (and order). Another favorite is the camel cashmere kimono
coat, which harkens a bygone era of elegance. In this wintry atmosphere, an ivory
georgette sculpted flora dress seems to literally mimic the cascade of snow. Wearable
separates allow women to seamlessly transition from day to night in colors like
bread, butter, ripe grapes, deep black and snow white.
Fall 2012 marks JSong and...Way’s 15th year anniversary and the brand
allowed audience members to help design a special coat by writing down each
person’s favorite word, which will be used in the finished garment. This was a fitting celebration as Zen always seems
in tune with her clientele. My word: “halcyon”. Few things
remind me of a carefree and hence better reality than a JSong and...Way collection.
