Romance & Resistance
Wolfgang Joop found inspiration for Wunderkind's Spring 06 collection in series of photographs taken by Louise Dahl-Wolfe in the 1940s. As Dahl-Wolfe pioneered the use of outdoor locations and natural lighting, her photos evoke feelings of both innocence and sophistication. Romance and resistance. Rigor and restraint. These contradictions are the essence of the Wunderkind collection.
Exploring the play between structure and softness, Wunderkind's silhouettes range from sweeping and voluminous to structured and tailored. Romantic silk chiffon dresses and billowing skirts complement menswear-inspired trousers and fitted jackets. Faded pastels and soft neutrels set the stage for Wolfgang Joop's renowned craftsmanship - braiding, ripping and hand-stitched embroidery are the collection's key textural themes while roses bloom on silk chiffon as the designer's signature print.
Designed in batiste, silk chiffon and cashmere linen, all pieces share a fanciful, well-traveled aesthetic as if they have flourished with time.
