The breathtaking beauty of the Arctic as interpreted by the oil paintings of Helmut Ditch were the muse for the Carmen Marc Valvo fall 2006 collection. Simply put, this means a stark, monochromatic color palette: black and winter white, accented with a hint of ice blue and cerulean
Carmen manages to evoke a tranquil harmony with his collection. The ivory shutterpleat sheered mink coat paired with a black cashmere turtleneck glowed on the runway, as did the ivory double face wool dress. This is a collection for a woman who wants to feel comfortable, sexy and exude luxury all at once. This isn’t about nonsensical luxury; it is about an essential joie de vivre that only some garments can provide. This means an ivory satin and lace patchwork strapless gown or a cerulean metallic brocade gown. Carmen’s use of Chantilly lace and chiffons as complements to the fur pieces and double-faced cashmeres is masterful.
