Temperley London's Autumn/Winter 2007/8 Collection draws inspiration from Paris in the early 1900's with the arrival of Russian nobility, artists and their muses. Inspired by these glamorous émigrés, Parisian society was enraptured by the vivid and exotic scenes played out before them by Diaghilev's Ballet Pusses.
An intense meeting of two cultures; organic silhouettes reminiscent of Art Nouveau and injected with an energy of adventure are brought to life by the glamorous Russians in exile through intoxicating shades of amethyst, cobalt, burnt orange and gold.
Clean elongated lines, with playful tuxedo detailing on tailored crepe court dresses and fitted, intricately bound Victorian jackets over voluminous harem style trousers allude to a seductive, playful and modern form.
Prints and knitwear embrace the synergy of the powerful Russian color palette and the romantic European silhouette of the day. Innovative textures and structures are juxtaposed with soft luxurious velvets, chenilles, lace, and glimmering gold lurex yarns.
Celebrating the divine opulence of the day, Regal embellishments are highlighted with crystals, pearls and gold. The Black Label Collection plays to theatrical inspirations combining corsetry, encrusted bodices and collars with fine fluid chiffons and bejeweled sculptural headpieces.
Temperley London for Autumn /Winter 2007/8 is both varied and focused. Draping, colour and proportion are teased and played with to create a collection that represents both past and present whilst quintessentially embracing the modern woman.
