As in every season, in winter 2007-2008, the Custo style prevails over trends, working each garment as though it were a graphic universe. The colours and strokes are still the real leitmotiv of the collection, an adventure the designer undertakes every six months with the concept of travel as experience and the urban lifestyle as his main sources of inspiration.
For winter 2007-2008 Custo Barcelona draws an intense contemporary figure with softer colours and the omnipresent black throughout the collection, a new value that the creator incorporates and diffuses in the design of each piece.
Luxury is another key element this season, an aspect that Custo Barcelona work into their most contemporary, relaxed and everyday version in precious fabrics, with lurex thread and sophisticated lines.
The Conquest of Volume
Curved shapes and volume are the stars of the collection, creating enfolding garments inclined towards the architectural, which, far from hiding the body, actually emphasis it. Gathers, pleats, box pleats and other sewing techniques that add volume to garments are the highlight of the season, along with a certain tendency towards the oversized.
A seductive range of dresses with batwing sleeves, baby dolls, bomber jackets with seventies spirit, culottes and knickerbockers are some of the seasonís star garments, made from fabrics such as printed silks and viscose.
Polo, funnel or oversized necks crown sweaters, dresses and outer garments, emphasising the tops, as do the hoods, which are treated as accessories and are decorated, lined and incorporated into the garment.
There is an air of the British countryside about the outer garments the collection proposes: coats, parkas, three-quarter coats and jackets made from wool with both rustic and delicate finishes, while the firm still prefers synthetic fur to the real thing.
Fine merino wools lend the cardigans and sweaters in the collection a natural yet contemporary air.
A cosmopolitan sensitivity runs through the menís fashions inspired by the rhythm of international capitals with a touch of vintage in the details and finishes. Dragons, old fabric patches and motifs derivative of wallpaper adorn outer garments which are once again the true stars of the 2007-2008 winter collection.
