In a reverse from the display of skin and celebrity before the event, most of the looks were all buttoned up, with lace panels on the front of many blouses and ruffs gracing the necklines that even covered the collar bone. And while the work wear and crop leg tuxedo were for more mature customers, it seemed to represent a "back to work" mentality that makes hard work seem desirable. And these serious pieces paired well with more whimsical prints and a playful babydoll dress complete with a gauzy pleated ruff.
The nude, cream, black, and navy colors signaled a desire for safety and austerity, with longer hems becoming more and more a part of the equation. But the fantasy of the graphic prints on billowy pieces brought a wonderful lightness to the designs. And the looks were transforming. All the press and film crews melted away, and the looks broadcast a brand new message to everyone there.
