Jill Stuart's spring ‘07 collection, shown at the NYC Public Library on 42nd street, was romantic and intimate. White, gray, pink and black fueled Stuart's collection with high-octane energy. Lace was the word here with Staurt showing multiples of lace-like ensembles, with touches of embroidery. Stuart played with volume in exaggerated proportions, but still managed to keep the collection soft and sensual, while avoiding restraining structure. Hints of aqua appeared in the collection, aadding a refreshing quality to a collection that journeyed into European Romanticism and could have been somber.
Stuart's incorporation of charmeuse, organza, lace, and tulle geared her collection towards intimacy better left for a bedroom night. Stuart also expanded into men’s wear in this collection, embarking on leather jackets, plain front trousers, and sportswear separates. With the delicacy of women’s wear separates, and Stuart's men’s wear to offset that aura, the collection volleyed back and forth.
