Couture Fashion Week, an extravaganza of luxurious runway fashion shows held in New York City, September 7-9, 2005, culminated with the presentation of the 2005 International Fashion Designer of the Year award to Jamil Khansa of Lebanon. Mr. Khansa presented his latest collection of breathtaking couture designs done in opulent fabrics with lavish embellishments, each piece more dazzling than the last.
Tani Keller of Germany was named “Most Innovative Fashion Designer” in recognition of her fine leather collection entitled "Garden of Eden.”
Other designers presenting fabulous collections included Anna Osmushkina from Latvia, Galina Dacheva from Bulgaria, Payal Jain of India, Lourdes Libman of the Dominican Republic, Galit Couture from Israel, Routa from Russia, Lilia Berzon from Russia, and Philadelphia-based Dah-Veese with a striking line of “urban couture”. Exquisite jewelry was presented by Kendra Roberts from New York and Maggies 107 based in Canada and showing handcrafted Mexican jewelry.
Hair and makeup was done by a team of artists from Delacqua Salon and Spa of Brooklyn. Delicious catering was done by Le Souk. After parties took place daily at the venue as well as at Le Souk. Participating models were from Ford, Major, BFM, MMG, Clones, Q and Ohm.
Contemporay collections were presented a day earlier by Ono Donahue from Mongolia, and Jorge Isaac from Ecuador.
